Breeding Goals:
Our alpacas are bred to be hearty and healthy, easy to manage and maintain, while producing a very valuable, high quality, marketable fiber. We particularly focus on three important key features: fiber, conformation, and disposition.
Fiber - It's sustainable, natural and renewable. And it's the fiber that gives the alpaca its intrinsic value afterall. Our interest lies in all aspects of the fiber but the three attributes that we concentrate on (and that contribute to the primary value) are fineness, staple length and density. Our breeding program is focused on constantly improving these qualities.
Conformation - We believe that alpacas must exhibit positive characteristics that enhance their ability to survive and reproduce. And it's true that form follows function. So we place importance on a female's ability to birth easily, as well as produce milk. In general, alpacas should be easy to care for, have a high reproductive rate and produce dense, fine fiber.
Disposition - In order to enjoy these beautiful animals entirely, alpacas should also be easy to handle which makes caring for them more manageable. They should tolerate human contact at all times. We aim to preserve this inheritable gentle disposition in our breeding program.
